About The Park
Located along the San Antonio River, the park was created to protect and educate visitors to the rich history that can be found throughout this part of Texas. A chain of missions which were established along the San Antonio River in the 1700’s, they represent the history related to Spain and its attempt to dominate the world outside of Mexico. Charged with converting the Native American population to Catholicism, these missions represent a part of history unique to the area.
Within the park, visitors will find sites of historic and architectural significance, these sites include the missions Concepción, San José, San Juan and Espada. Other sites included within are historic Espada Dam and Aqueduct, irrigation systems and the Rancho de las Cabras. Offering a museum, gift shop and plenty of areas to explore the sites of San Antonio.
