Panoramic Views on Your London Vacation

Posted on 07.27.12

London, England is a city that was shaped by its many diverse landmarks, such as churches, tall monuments, and modern skyscrapers to the Thames. There are many bridges that cross this river, creating such a unique sight in this ancient place. Also, there are many locations that offer you panoramic views of the city for those that want a better view. Some of these locations will charge a viewer’s fee, while others are free to the public. If you are planning a trip to London soon, the following viewing areas will prove to be valuable.

Primrose Hill is one of the best viewing locations in all of London, and many may recognize it from the many movies it has been featured in. It rises over sixty meters, and is the most popular viewing location for obtaining panoramic views over London. From atop this hill you can view St. Paul’s Cathedral and Regent’s Park. At the top, there are guide plaques that highlight the different landmarks you are seeing. On a day with nice weather it is a great place to picnic or take the kids to play. Primrose Hill is very near to Camden Town, with its many eateries and other attractions.

One Tree Hill is London’s best kept secrets. It has recently gained familiarity from the television show with the same name. This hill is located within Honor Oak Park in the south of London and is off the beaten track. If you feel like making the effort, you will be greatly rewarded with the beckoning views this hill provides. The hill is quite steep; however, there are benches at the top to relax and take in the view. You will find that the view is well worth the climb.

If you are planning a sightseeing trip to London, these two places should not be missed. Both are free to the public and will put the cherry on top of your vacation.

Note: London is hosting the Summer Olympics which begin with the opening ceremonies tonight. If you are planning on visiting this destination within the next month, be sure to plan carefully as the number of travelers and the cost of travel may be higher this time of this summer.
