The state of Nevada is one of the most popular in the United States for travelers each and every year. From its natural beauty to its top resorts, hotels and top destinations for travel including world famous casinos, theatres, arts museums and sites of historic and cultural significance, Nevada has much to offer visitors from around the world.

Located in the western part of the United States, Nevada is actually in the top ten least densely populated states in the nation. Ironically enough, although Nevada is quite sparse as far as its total population goes, it contains one of the most well known and visited destinations in the U.S. as well.

Divided into regions for simplicity, Nevada’s areas include:

Northwest – Encompassing the Reno Tahoe area, the Northwest area of Nevada also happens to be one of the most visited. Festivals and events in Reno such as Hot August Nights and the National Championship Air Races. Largely made up of metropolitan areas, there are many places for visitors to sit, shop or eat their way into a fantastic Nevada vacation including the city of Sparks, home to the largest Scheels outdoor store in the world.

Central – Running along U.S. Highway 93, the central part of Nevada includes the largest National Wildlife Range in the U.S. In addition, 14 other wilderness areas, hiking trails, National refuges, OHV trails and even ghost towns dating back to the gold rush encompass adventure.

North – Cowboy country, Old West is the name of the game in the North. Here you can find folklife festivals and events, Cowboy Poetry Gathering and rich cultural activities year round. Museums, art, cultural experiences, and family destinations abound in this part of Nevada.

North Central – Including the Loneliest Road In America, U.S. 50, this part of Nevada includes valleys, passes, the old Pony Express route and many areas of historic America. Fort Churchill, Lake Lahontan, Sand Mountain, Great Basin National Park, and Grimes Point are just some of the more well known ares in North Central Nevada.

Southern – Las Vegas, need we say more? Actually, yes. More than just one of the most famous cities in the world, the Southern part of Nevada is well known for its national sites and stunning natural beauty. Sites such as Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Valley of Fire State Park and Hoover Dam are just three of the amazing nearby sites. Popular cities in this region include Boulder City, Las Vegas, Laughline, and Moapa Valley.

Indian Territory – Despite the rich native history in the whole state of Nevada, this area caters to this part of history the most including many resorts, and cultural activities directly relating or owned by the local tribes today. Music, art, film, photography and cultural centers are found throughout this region of Nevada.
